A note from us
We have been to enough weddings to know that the best parts are never on the schedule. The uncle who takes over the dhol. The cousins who disappear for two hours and come back with jalebi for everyone.
So this is less an invitation than a request: come for the whole thing if you can, and stay for the bits that run late.

A cousin's sangeet in Rajkot, December 2019. He was guarding a plate of undhiyu he had no intention of sharing. She asked for some anyway, and he gave her the whole plate.
Four years, two cities and a great many late calls. Ahmedabad to Pune every second weekend, until eleven hours on the highway stopped feeling like a journey and started feeling like the way home.
Chai on a Sunday afternoon in Satellite, both sets of parents in one room for the first time. Both mothers had already guessed, and both pretended otherwise for a full twenty minutes.
Where both families have been going to weddings for thirty years.

Ahmedabad airport is 14 km from the venue — about 35 minutes, closer to an hour if you land at six in the evening. Kalupur station is 9 km. Autos and cabs are easy at both; say Satellite, near Ramdev Nagar.
We have held rooms at Hotel Amber and at Regenta, both a five-minute drive from the hall. Mention the Shah–Patel wedding when you book and the rate is already arranged.
A bus leaves both hotels forty minutes before every function and waits at the gate afterwards. If you are driving, parking is free and on-site, with attendants from nine in the morning.
Can we bring our children?
Yes, please do. There is a room beside the main hall with mats, some toys and someone watching over it through the ceremony.
What time should we actually arrive?
For the wedding, 10:45 in the morning. The muhurat is 11:11 and the pandit is not negotiable about it. Everything else can run late and usually does.
Is there parking?
Yes — free, on-site, and there are attendants from nine. The entrance is off Ramdev Nagar Road, not the main gate.
