About this design
Kankotri is the flagship, and it is built the way a printed card is built rather than the way a web page is. Every section is a plate — a rounded sheet of unbleached stock lying on a dark table, registration marks at its corners, the way a printer lays proofs out to check them.
It prints in two inks and no more: mehndi green and kumkum vermilion on cream. Your photograph is screened into a single colour on the invitation plate, the way a one-ink separation actually looks, and cut into flower stencils on your story — the ink shows between the petals and the picture shows through them.
The type is one expanded grotesque in heavy caps, and your names arrive out of drifting dust and settle into place. Your initials are blocked into the corner of every plate. The schedule is keyed by date rather than numbered 01–04, and on a computer, resting on a day lifts that ceremony's picture off the table.
The pictures are what make it yours. Send us a few photographs after you buy and we make pictures of the two of you from them for the whole week — in different clothes for each function — and they replace the samples.
Everything else is yours to write: both families, the muhurat, the venue of each function with a map button that opens directions, your photographs, how you met, an RSVP that collects replies and any question you want to ask your guests. In Gujarati, Hindi or English.
